Pissed At WP AGAIN!!!

Why the fuck will it not upload my images that have been shot vertically from my digital camera but it uploads the horizontal ones just tickety-fuckin’-boo! It uploads them if they were horizontal so they are all rotated 90° and look stupid (obviously.)

I don’t know how long I have been bloody well arseing around trying to post this, fuck with their little buttons, go to their FUHQ page for help and also screw around with my next-to-nil HTML knowledge within the post itself. Oh yeah, I also went to page source and whee! CSS!? I didn’t even bother with that shite and I couldn’t modify it anyway?

If anyone has a goddamn clue, please let me know.

And yes, everything is showing, viewing, saving and la-de-fucking-da on my Mac properly. I even tried saving in the horizontal manner that WP was uploading them in to see if it liked it that way but nope.

Laters,
Pissed PA

Where’s the “Press Any Key to Continue” cartoon with the duck getting ready to pulverize the computer with a sledgehammer??? That’s what we need! :-)

I’ve had off and on problems (since the upgrade) uploading images with Firefox. Rick Mobb’s had similar issues and solved the problem by using Safari (to upload only I’m sure).

I just uploaded a vertical photo of a young, and very hot Sally Field and had no problem putting it into a post… if you’re still having problems maybe I can help out. Send me an email…

hmmm. It may just be that your mac automatically corrects your photos to display them a certain way, but the actual files themselves are still in their horizontal format.
Try rotating them 90 degress anticlockwise using some online photo editing suite (photoshop express?) and saving them, and then uploading to wp.

    Just a guess, mind.

    Hi, here via blog 365.
Have you tried looking at photos before you upload them in another photo editing app?
Like darkentries, I think the pictures are being rotated before WP.
I upload 20-40 pix a day and have no problems.
FF can be kind of hinky, so shut down (twice!) FF to make sure cache is cleared if you are still having problem.

yeah i can’t help you at all because i’m technologically deficient, regardless of what my job requires of me, but just sending my wishes since being pissed sucks!

Hi mom, I’m not quite sure of that cartoon but I’ve seen many a one with silly renditions of keyboards with keys labelled all kinds of things. No matter… Maybe we could have one where the ‘Enter/Return’ key says: “Fuck WordPress?”

Just kidding WordPress police. You know I love your platform. Otherwise I would go back to stinky Blogger.

Hi Greybeard, interesting about Safari. I never use it. I don’t really like it but then again…I don’t know if I’ve bothered to invest a lot of time with it. I do like Firefox. I guess that is an option?

Hi Gabriel…, I haven’t tried anything vertical since the new upgrade but I’ve never had any problems with vertical stuff from the Internet. And prior to the upgrade I never had any problems with any verticals I shot myself…same camera and same save settings and all of that?

Hi darkentries, I did try a save rotation but not with PhotoShop. I need to reinstall my AdobeSuite and I’ve been too arsed to do so. When I view them in the Nikon upload and saved format, everything seems fine and then on the Mac again, it all looks good.

But…something still might be awry as I recall emailing something to someone a while back and it was screwy–the view in gmail was horizontal. That didn’t make sense. I think I might be at the point now that I am beginning to not really care? I might do this again somewhere in the very far future? Like 2011?

Hi GoingLikeSixty. Welcome! Another fellow Blog365′er! Interesting about Firefox. And yes, I am viewing them beforehand so that is why I couldn’t figure it out! Maybe I will take Gabriel… up on his offer…or send to darkentries too?

Hi unfitting, thanks. I appreciate being appreciated when pissed!

Have you tried converting the image to a different file format? Sometimes conversion can do the trick with these odd glitches. Worth a try, probably.

I prefer Firefox too. Safari definitely won’t work (or at least didn’t last time I tried, which may have been pre-version 3.x) with the wp wysiwyg. It’s a quality standard compliant tool though and I use it everyday, even if it’s just to be signed it to more than one gmail account simultaneously.

  10. patientanonymous Says:

Hey Catatonic Kid, it’s a .jpg which is the most basic file for a photo on earth, right? I mean, I’m no uber-techie but .gif files and… ugh. In my opinion they suck ass? I don’t know…

PA=Dumb Arse (really, when it comes to computers.) Actually, PA=Dumb Arse when it comes to more things to be sure…

Hi Greybeard, I don’t even know what version I have with new baby MacBook and OS Leopard. Okay, it’s 3.1.1 Sorry, WTF-ever. Again, I could try it in year 2011. No, I might try it sometime sooner?

That’s interesting that you can use Safari to be signed on to more than one gmail account. Huh. Can’t do that with Firefox. Not that I get sooooo many emails because I am sooooo popular with my multiple accounts. *PA rolls eyes*

  11. Greybeard Says:

No, I sign onto one with Firefox and another one with Safari. I’ve got Opera on here too, so if I really want to go crazy …

It’s definitely that the mac automatically detects that you took the pic sideways and that it’s supposed to be vertical, but it all truth the image file is still horizontal. You need to turn it in any direction first and then back to the vertical position for it to be upright when you upload it.

  13. patientanonymous Says:

Hi Greybeard…oh, I get it now. Yes…something just didn’t sound right about that!

  14. patientanonymous Says:

NOTE: This comment is from Brigitte WHO KEEPS GETTING CAUGHT IN MY SPAM QUEUE!

I apologise for shouting but Akismet is being stupid.

Thanks, Brigitte. I’ll get back to messing around with it someday. And I’ll keep trying to de-spam you or un-spam you or whatever! Good lord. You are probably thinking I’m blocking your comments or something by this point!

  15. patientanonymous Says:

Okay…I de-spammed without touching the rest of my shit in the queue so you are at least showing up now? That worked? Let’s see if it will stick from this point forward Brigitte!

    I don’t understand why this keeps happening…

Oh. This may have something to do with my Spam folder in gmail. Before, some comments didn’t get through there as I had some stuff that ended up there but didn’t delete when I…deleted them?

ARGH. And I see an “anonymous” comment on my blog that didn’t get through to gmail that may have been the result of not deleting gmail spam. But that didn’t go into my WP Spam Queue.

    *sigh*
